In a nutshell

Accu-Waves platform offers short-term forecasts for sea conditions (wave characteristics, sea level, currents) inside and in the vicinity of 50 selected commercially important ports worldwide. The goal is to support navigation procedures of vessels’ approach to ports by providing a reliable 3-day prognostic depiction of maritime conditions in ports and their surrounding areas with a 3-hour step. The sea-state forecasts are based on integrated simulations with three numerical models:

  1. the High-Resolution Storm Surge (HiReSS; model H) model for sea level variations,
  2. the 3rd generation spectral wave model (TOMAWAC; model A) for irregular wave propagation in offshore and coastal areas,
  3. the high-resolution phase-resolving wave model (WAVE-L; model B), based on the hyperbolic mild-slope equations, for areas inside port basins.
